Simply Black Henna for Hair

Simple Creations is excited to present our Simply Black Henna Hair Color! Derived from the leaves of a North African shrub, there is no need to worry about chemicals, and for an even great bonus, we ensure all our henna products to be Paraphylenediamine (PPD) Free! Each color will come packaged in a pouch which can be resealed and detailed instructions on how to receive the best consistency for the product!

Henna works so well because it covers each strand of hair and the shade of Henna is reflected throughout the hair while also working with the hair’s natural color! Furthermore, Henna is a natural conditioner which works to smooth and seal the cuticles of the hair, leaving it with a healthy looking glow which strengthens with each application. For best results, one needs to reapply the henna every 4-6 weeks, and with regular use, the hair will develop more texture and body! Even better, because it is naturally blending color and it fades gradually, there is never a noticeable regrowth area!

Ingredients: Indigofera, Lawsonia InIermis

Precaution Instructions for the Use of Henna Hair Color:

  • Contained in this package are two separate 2 oz. baggies of henna. If you have shorter hair, this will be enough for two different applications. If you have shoulder-length hair, then use all four oz. for best application.
  • Simply Henna Hair Color can be applied on either wet or dry hair; however, does work best on dry hair. Also, you will need to shampoo and wash your hair free of all hair sprays, gels, or conditioners before applying.
  • Only use plastic or glass bowl to prepare the henna for application.
  • DO NOT USE metal bowls or utensils to mix hold or combine the product! Henna, similar to bentonite clay, can begin to breakdown with contact to metal.
  • Ensure you have the area where you are working covered with papers or items you are not concerned about “staining” because the process can be messy the first few times you apply Henna.

Tips to Accomplish the Best Results:

  • To help cover GRAY or WHITE hair, mix powder with coffee or tea, as well as 1-2 tbsp. of Apple Cider Vinegar.

Special Recipes and Hints for use of GRAY hair or to customize the final Results:

  • Coffee or Black Tea ( such as English Breakfast Tea)
    • This helps to town down red tones and works to deepen brown or red tones.
    • If applying to Gray Hair, make sure to use Coffee or Tea for best results.
    • If using tea, bring water to a boil and pour 16 oz. of boiling water into a cup with tea bag for 20-30 minutes before beginning the process. After 20-30 minutes, return the mixture to a boil before mixing in the henna.

  • Red Teas (such as Raspberry Leaf, Rooibos, Red Zinger, or Passion Fruit & Hibiscus)
    • Helps to enhance red tones, helping them to become more vibrant!

  • Chamomile Tea: Helps to enhance and bring out golden blonde highlights
    • ONLY TO BE USED WITH Simply Blonde HennaSimply Strawberry Blonde Henna or one of the Blonde Base colors.
    • DO NOT APPLY with Browns and Reds!

  • Simply Neutral Henna for Hair: Does not produce any color results, only used to nourish and condition the hair, so use only the required amount of boiling water!

  • If your hair needs some repairs, please, considering one of the following options to help condition the hair!
  • If you do not have dry, damaged, hair, still feel free to include to assist with the rinsing process!
    • Pick ONLY ONE of the following options:
      • 1 Egg
      • 2-4 tbsp. Olive Oil
      • 2-4 tbsp. Plain Yogurt

When you are ready to begin, please ensure your working area and ready! This product works best with the heated application, which is why the water MUST BE boiling to begin the process. Once you have mixed everything and prepared it for application, allow to cool to a temperature that will not burn or cause personal injury.

 Time to Apply the Henna:

  1. Bring 16 oz. of preferred liquid (water, coffee, or tea) to a boil.
  2. Add the liquid gradually, using a wood or plastic spoon to mix thoroughly.
    1. Your goal is to reach a creamy yogurt like consistency.
    2. It is possible to add more liquid if your henna is too thick or thickens up during application, just make sure it is warm water.
    3. It is important to realize, the 16 oz. will most likely not be needed, but this give you a gradual point of beginning to accomplish the perfect consistency.
  3. Once the Henna has reached the proper yogurt consistency, be sure to place the provided gloves (or some type of disposable gloves) to avoid staining the skin.
    1. Some prefer to take additional caution and apply Vaseline or similar products around the scalp line and ears for additional protection, and also to make the “wash-up” easier once the henna has been applied.
  4. Section hair into 1-inch thick sections while waiting for the henna to reach a SAFE HEAT
  5. Once the henna has cooled to a SAFE HEAT, begin at the scalp and apply from roots to end.
    1. As you complete the application of henna to the section, try pulling it on top of the head almost like a “mini-bun” and apply more henna to help add remaining sections.
    2. Each time you complete a new section, add it to the “mini-bun” to help ensure you cover all your hair, to provide some “division” to prevent unnecessary application, and also to make the processing time easier.
  6. Continue application in this manner until the hair is thickly coated with the Henna mixture.
  7. Place a cotton or tissue band around the hairline (optional) and then using water and soap, remove any henna that may be on the skin after application.
    1. If using Vaseline, this step will be easier. Otherwise, it may be necessary to “scrub” the skin to ensure you remove the Henna from the Skin.
  8. Place the provided shower cap on top of the hair, then if possible, wrap a towel around the head turban style to “heat” the hair.
    1. If you have access to a salon dome dryer, heat lamp, or Thermo Heat Cap, feel free to use instead of the towel!

  • Leave on as Follows, and note the longer “times” are meant for hair that tends to be resistant to color:
    • Black Red, Sherry, Mahogany, Burgundy, Dark Brown Medium Brown, and/or Copper:
      • If applying heat, leave on 60-70 minutes.
      • If not applying additional heat, leave on 75-120 minutes
    • Strawberry Blonde, Blonde, Marigold Blond, Light Brown and/or Neutral:
      • With additional heat, leave on 45-60 minutes.
      • Without additional heat, leave on 75-120 minutes

Once the timing is complete rinse thoroughly with warm water, then rinse with cool water. Follow with a chemical free shampoo and conditioner! To see final results, the hair will need to complete drying and be prepared for a subtle fade for 2-3 days while the color finally “settles” down!
